Every First Dawn commission begins with a conversation: about the child who has arrived, or who is coming, and about what you want their story to hold.
HOW IT WORKS
Four simple stages, from your first conversation to the day their diamond is placed in your hands.
01 – THE CONVERSATION
A private conversation, by video call, by telephone. We talk about the child, the family and the occasion, and what you would like their Legacy Vault™ to hold. No cost. No commitment.
02 – THE DIAMOND
We present a small selection of three to five natural diamonds from our verified origins (Botswana, Canada and Namibia), each with its GIA grading report and Diamond Origin Report, filmed so you can compare them side by side. You choose the one that will be theirs.
03 – THE LEGACY VAULT™
Once you have chosen, the diamond’s Legacy Vault™ is created and activated in its name, often before the child has even arrived. You receive your access, and a gentle framework of milestones to begin filling it.
04 – PRESENTED, OR SET
Your First Dawn diamond is presented unset in a De Vere heirloom box, with its certification and a laser inscription linking it to its Vault.
If you would like it to be worn in the years before it becomes theirs, we design a bespoke setting, most often a pendant for a mother or grandmother. It is made by our RJC-certified partners in responsibly sourced yellow gold, white gold or platinum, with Fairtrade or Fairmined certified gold available, and hallmarked by the London Assay Office. The setting is designed so the diamond can be removed cleanly and reset one day, whatever they choose it to become.
THE FIRST CONVERSATION: WHAT WE WILL TALK ABOUT
The child. Whether they have already arrived, are expected soon, or you are commissioning First Dawn as a parent, grandparent or family member.
The diamond. Size, shape and budget. The round brilliant is First Dawn’s signature, and other shapes are available.
Worn or kept. Whether the diamond will be presented unset, or set to be worn by someone who loves them until it is theirs. There is no need to decide straight away; the offer to set it never expires.
The setting, if you choose one. Rubover or claw, in yellow gold, white gold or platinum.
The Vault. What you would like it to hold from the very beginning: scans, first photographs, voices, a letter.
Legacy letters. Words written now, to be read at 18 or 21.
The Stewardship Transfer. When and how the diamond and its Vault will one day pass into their hands.

WHAT THE LEGACY VAULT™ IS FOR
Over the years, the Legacy Vault™ fills quietly: letters, photographs, milestones, the sound of a grandparent’s voice.
In twenty years, they will open it and find the letter you wrote at 2am on their fourth night.
At 18 or 21, through the Stewardship Transfer, the diamond and everything its Vault holds pass into their hands, theirs to keep as it is, to set into something of their own, and one day to pass on.

We work with families in London, the UAE, India and across the world. Your consultation can take place privately in Mayfair or by video call wherever you are in the world, at a time that suits you, and the Legacy Vault™ can be opened and added to from anywhere.
For families in India, every order is delivered fully insured, with import duties and taxes included.
Payment: a 50% deposit secures your diamond, and the balance is due before it is dispatched. Because every First Dawn diamond is laser-inscribed with its Legacy Vault identity, it is personal to your child and cannot be returned once inscribed.
